Lo4 - Evaluation
Overall the majority of viewers was pleased with the final edit of our review.
The production process went very smoothly. Pre-production was the gathering of the game research we were reviewing so in this case it was evolve on the xbox one. when then had to plan on the shots that would be used and a rough script in which we will use. I say rough as the section of the show is majority opinion based so the script just acted as a structure guide. Production was the setting up equipment correctly and safely in the studio to record the footage. We then began recording the review with me, Olly, Dom and harry. The review went very well and the presenting came across as fluent and entertaining as we found in our viewer feedback. The post-production is where we glued all the elements together using adobe premier. This section went very well however in some cases we need to change some audio due to microphone hiss or over dubbing. The post-production also included the graphics supplied by Griff, another team member of the games corner production. The graphics gave very clear lines between the other sections of the show giving our section a professional look and clear separation from the rest of the show. Other parts we put in during the post-production was the game play which we recorded during the show. Overall the production process was a great success with positive viewer feedback overall.
Key decisions in the production process was the shot types. In another draft edit we only had two types of shot, a two shot and a group shot. So to improve this we also contained a close up of the episodes lead, Olly. This was included at the start where only he was talking as we felt this was necessary. To film the show we decided to use the same studio set up as the rest of the show as we felt it made the show look uniform for sections which weren't out and about reporting. It also saved a lot of time for us as we only then had to build one studio set up and also saving on our budget. In terms of sound we made quite a few important decisions as a result of some faults in the microphone audio. The microphones used seemed to have quite a bit of background hiss which didn't sound very good so in adobe audition we used the de-hisser effect to try and reduce this as much as we could. Also due to us using a mono boom mic we also had to export the audio out of audition in stereo so that when synced up in premier it came out of both audio channels.
In terms of changes to the script and storyboard in comparison to those previously planned, there wasn't any substantial changes made. This was down to the main elements of the show being off the bat anyways and that we were happy with the content we had previously planned.
The quality of the camera framing was very good and came across as tv standard. The two shot framed the two presenters perfectly and the group shot centred the tv with two presenters either side. The close up was framed central and was in correct focus. However on some cameras lighting issues did occur but was altered correctly in premier with colour correction. The audio quality when first recorded was okay however it did have a bad hissing sound in the background, but this was resolved in adobe audition in the post-production stage. Apart from this issue the audio was very clear and the presenters dialogue was able to be understood by the audience.
The final product is not far off the original idea and has remained very consistent throughout the project following the planning materials we put together in pre-production. It looks very similar in the framing of what the initial storyboards represented and the structure of the section stayed very similar throughout the project. In comparison the final product is a success compared to our production materials and we worked well as a team to keep this level of consistency.
The section fitted very well with its time of broadcast as it did not breach any of ofcom's regulations toward violence, strong language or drug use. The show would be on in the morning so it is pre-watershed and it is appropriate for this broadcast because of its clean content. The target audience for this show would be within the ages of 14 to 30 and have a common interest in video games. This is clearly shown in the review content and the older targeted jokes referenced in the section. It also contains relevant material on gaming so it appeals to the target audience well and is deemed appropriate for the show.
Clear areas for improvement would be the audio. The audio was improved greatly but some of the hiss still remains, so to improve on next time we will use a microphone which dosen't record this hissing sound in our audio. Also another improvement, which was more of an annoyance to us and was fixed during editing was the loss of footage on multiple cameras due to faults either with the SD card being full or the battery dying. This meant that the diversity in shots was reduced nearing the end of out section. So as an improvement next time, double check that all the camera batteries are charged and have a fully wiped SD card ready for use. Another area for improvement would be the fluency and confidence of presenting the show. However this was down to lack of experience in this area so clear improvements will come the more we become confident in doing so.

Lo3 - Effects and transitions
For the effects, we added a 3 second clip of an intro for our show, which was produced by one of our colleagues. Then after that we then added an intro for the game, which was part of a trailer that we found on youtube. Then we transitioned from the trailer to the actual review using a fade to black because it didn't look right otherwise. Other effects included the required colour correction which we felt was required as some of the shots weren't as consistent and looked slightly different. With out this the production would look odd in its appearance when its cuts from shot to shot. The most significant effects put into the show was with the audio. This was mostly the hiss reduction effect on the microphone to make it not as bad and sit more in the background.
Lo3 - Audio editing
Due to the sound being recorded using a mono boom microphone the audio need to be converted for stereo playback. This is vital so the product sounds balanced on all playback systems including headphones and tvs. This was done using adobe audition then exported back into premier to me coupled with the video.
